Just outside Middachten Castle in De Steeg, the IJB Group, commissioned by construction company Van den Hengel, laid the foundation for 8 detached villas.

Fully in line with our sustainability vision, it was decided to install the foundation directly on the hard load-bearing ground using the IJB Smartfoot. The Smartfoot is a foundation beam with a wide foot which, when the ground structure permits, can be used as an alternative to foundation piles. As this system has many advantages, it is very popular in the current market.

During the preparatory phase, our colleagues from the Geotechniek department visited the location in order to carry out cone penetration tests. This identified the ground structure of the two plots, which at times still had an agricultural function, and formed the basis for the further operations. In this way, the IJB Group, as total supplier throughout the entire process from preparation to installation, contributes to sustainability resolving the housing shortage.
