The new electric truck

The truck

On 31 January 2023, the first fully electric truck for construction logistics was put to use on the site of the IJB Group in Lemmer. A fine collaboration between the IJB Group and Combex and an important step in both companies’ efforts towards a more sustainable future.

Under the watchful eyes of a group of interested employees from Combex and a number of IJB colleagues, Patrick Cabalt, the regular driver of this truck, was presented with the keys of this very special vehicle.

The charging station

Patrick could then immediately charge the truck. This takes place at the IJB site in Lemmer, using a fast charging station for DC charging, realised by the company Kenter, on the direction of our Technical Department which carried out research into the most suitable fast charger. This allows heavy trucks to be charged up to 350 kW per hour. The truck can be topped up during the driver’s compulsory breaks, thereby increasing the range of the truck and optimising the distance it can cover in one day.

Sustainable Capacity
Since 1 February, the Volvo FMX Electric has been transporting piles and other prefab foundation products of the IJB Group. The truck travels from the production locations in Lemmer, Kampen and Lelystad, transporting loads within a 150-km radius of the plants. In doing so, the electric truck contributes to reducing emissions of harmful substances during the logistical process and at the construction sites.

This partnership with Combex fits in perfectly with the IJB Group’s vision on sustainability.
